What went wrong

The notice saysThe ski boot shell can crack, posing a fall hazard and risk of injury to the consumer.

In ski and snowboard boots a fall hazard usually comes from hardware: a cuff pivot, buckle, power strap, walk-mode lever or the sole interface with the binding. When one of those lets go, the boot can release or lose support at speed. That is why these recalls tend to offer repairs or replacement parts through the shop that sold the boots, rather than a refund.
