Reports
The firm has received one report of an incident of the ski boot cuff rotated. No injuries have been reported.

What went wrong

The notice saysThe ski boot cuff can rotate, causing the lock mechanism to malfunction, posing a fall hazard and risk of injury to the consumer.

In ski and snowboard boots a fall hazard usually comes from hardware: a cuff pivot, buckle, power strap, walk-mode lever or the sole interface with the binding. When one of those lets go, the boot can release or lose support at speed. That is why these recalls tend to offer repairs or replacement parts through the shop that sold the boots, rather than a refund.

How to tell if your pair is affected

Product description in the noticeThis recall involves RC4 50, RC4 60, and RC4 65 Junior Ski Boots in sizes 21.5 to 27.5. The RC4 50 and RC4 60 were sold in Rhino Grey and Snow colors. The RC4 65 was sold in yellow. "Fischer" is printed on the lower shell on each boot, and the specific model and name is printed on the outside of the upper cuff, between the two top buckles. The size of the boot is stamped on the sole.

The notice gives no style numbers or barcodes, so you match on what it does give: the brand and style (Fischer RC4 Junior Ski Boots), the sizes (sizes 21), the sale period (October 2022 to February 2024), where it was sold (see “Sold at” above) and the “made in” label (Romania).
