Not an official recall source

We read CPSC’s public recall database every night and present the footwear recalls in a different order, with our own explanations. The official record of a recall is the notice on cpsc.gov, linked from every recall page. If anything here differs from the notice, the notice is correct.

No medical, legal or safety advice

Our hazard explanations describe what recall notices and federal rules say. They are not medical advice, legal advice or a safety assessment of any product. If you or your child has been hurt, contact a doctor. Questions about your rights after a purchase belong with the firm, the retailer or a lawyer.

Completeness

Our archive includes recalls whose CPSC titles name footwear. A recall of footwear sold under an unusual name, or a product recalled by another agency, may be missing. A shoe that is not on this site has not necessarily been found safe.

Calculated figures and sizes

Rankings, medians, report rates and retail-value estimates on recall pages are our own calculations from the archive, explained on data and methods. They describe the recalls in the archive, not the safety of a brand or a store. Size conversions come from published foot-length formulas and are a guideline; check the brand’s own chart before you buy.
